Partnerships and Community Impact

THE THREAD

This project is a partnership between Cindy and Daryle Coleman's Without Limits and The Doyle, a community-driven event space that goes far beyond typical Las Vegas venues. We are committed to serving as activists and change-makers for the Historic Westside, contributing to its cultural and economic resurgence. One of our signature initiatives includes the creation of the Jackson Street Sculpture Garden at 421 Van Buren, constructed using recycled materials from the original Jackson Street—a significant historical and cultural site.

We also developed a full clothing line using materials from when Las Vegas hosted the Super Bowl, showcasing our commitment to sustainability and creative reuse. The Doyle has hosted multiple community-based fashion shows, providing a platform for young, aspiring designers and entrepreneurs to showcase their talents. Additionally, it served as the central hub for the filming of Across the Rhetorical Tracks, a documentary highlighting the Westside’s legacy, with Steven Spann acting as Executive Producer.

Our partnerships with influential nonprofits such as Teach For America, the Black Mountain Institute, and local youth and minority-focused charities further demonstrate our deep roots in the community. We also run event feeder programs that support minority-owned businesses and actively encourage youth entrepreneurship through a variety of initiatives.

Through this project, we aim to honor the Westside’s past while building opportunities for its future, with a focus on sustainability, entrepreneurship, and community empowerment.

Weaving Together Our City’s Future

The Fabric of Las Vegas is a bold partnership that transforms recycled materials from local businesses into a custom couture coat for the Mayor — designed and created by middle and high school students in a seven-week after-school program.

This initiative unites businesses, schools, nonprofits, and city leaders to prepare our next generation for success while celebrating the creativity, diversity, and innovation that define Las Vegas.

Under the combined vision of Mayor Shelley Berkley, whose initiatives champion sustainability, workforce readiness, and community engagement, and leadership of founders Cindy Coleman, M.Ed., an award-winning teacher turned social entrepreneur, and Steve Spann, a post-consumption artist and owner of The Doyle, The Fabric of Las Vegas sets a new standard for how education and art can transform lives.

How the Fabric of Las Vegas Supports the Mayor’s Vision

Mayor Berkley’s priorities drive the program:

  • Strengthen Community Engagement – Bringing together businesses, educators, and nonprofits to create lasting change.

  • Enhance Workforce Development – Giving youth real-world experience in design, entrepreneurship, and event production.

  • Champion Sustainability – Repurposing textiles from events, sports teams, and businesses into wearable art.

Foster Innovation – Connecting students to career pathways in Las Vegas’ creative, tourism, and entertainment industries.

Why This Matters for Our Youth — and Why Now

Our city’s young citizens are tomorrow’s leaders. In today’s rapidly changing world, they need more than traditional classroom learning — they need opportunities to lead, collaborate, problem-solve, and take responsibility for their community’s future. The Fabric of Las Vegas equips students with:

  • Practical Skills they can carry into the workforce — from creative design to public speaking and business planning.
  • A Sense of Ownership over their work, their community, and the sustainability of their environment.
  • Leadership Experience that empowers them to guide teams, make decisions, and represent their city proudly.
  • An Understanding of Civic Responsibility through direct collaboration with city leaders and local businesses.

Now is the moment to show our youth that they are essential to shaping Las Vegas’ future — and to give them the tools, mentorship, and confidence to step into leadership roles.
