The Thread: The Fabric of Las Vegas
A Collaboration Between Mayor Shelley Berkley, the City of Las Vegas & Cindy Coleman, M.Ed and Broadway in the HOOD.
Stitched by Students. Backed by Businesses.
The Fabric of Las Vegas is a bold partnership that transforms recycled materials from local businesses into a custom couture coat for the Mayor — designed and created by middle and high school students in a seven-week after-school program.
This initiative unites businesses, schools, nonprofits, and city leaders to prepare our next generation for success while celebrating the creativity, diversity, and innovation that define Las Vegas.
Under the combined vision of Mayor Shelley Berkley, whose initiatives champion sustainability, workforce readiness, and community engagement, and leadership of founders Cindy Coleman, M.Ed., an award-winning teacher turned social entrepreneur, and Steve Spann, a post-consumption artist and owner of The Doyle, The Fabric of Las Vegas sets a new standard for how education and art can transform lives.
