Be Part of The Thread: The Fabric of Las Vegas!
Each family is invited to paint a 3x3-inch square that represents who you are and how your family is connected to Las Vegas. These small works of art — your “family logos” — will be joined together to form The Fabric of Las Vegas, which will be featured in Mayor Shelley Berkley’s custom bomber jacket as a symbol of unity, creativity, and community pride.
This simple, fun project is a wonderful way to connect with one another and reflect on what makes your family special. You don’t need to be an artist, just bring your imagination and your heart.

Guiding Question
“What makes your family a special part of the fabric of Las Vegas?”
(Think about your favorite places, traditions, colors, or values that connect your family to this community.)
Short Version for Kids:
“Show what makes your family unique and how you help make Las Vegas shine!”
1. Family Talk (10–15 minutes)
Gather together and share ideas:
What do we love most about living in Las Vegas?
What makes our family special?
How do we help our community?
What colors or symbols represent us?
Write down everyone’s thoughts, words, or sketches.
2. Design Time (10 minutes)
Sketch your idea before painting.
Use colors, symbols, or initials that show your family’s spirit.
Let everyone add something — even a fingerprint or brushstroke!
3. Paint & Create (20–30 minutes)
Bring your design to life on your 3x3 square.
Remember: there’s no wrong way to show who you are.
Let it dry completely.
4. Reflect & Share (5 minutes)
On a note card or the back of your square, complete this sentence:
“Our family square shows ______ because ______.”
Example: “Our family square shows a rising sun because we believe every day is a new chance to grow and help others.”
OPTIONAL EXTENSION
Record a short (1-minute) video or voice note explaining your family’s design and what it means to you.
